vista not install using my motherboard

Vista Will NOT Install Using My Motherboard.

I have a Asus P4R800-V Deluxe Motherboard and vista has serious issues when trying to install. (Fresh install on a formatted 120gb single sata HD not raid configured, booting from Vista DVD)
1) If Sata is enabled in my bios and i have my AGP GFX card plugged in (AX800XT Platinum) Vista will get to the loading windows files then when it's done i get a black screen and have to reset.
2) If i disable Sata in bios with GFX card plugged in i xcan get to the which drive do you want to install vista to but as sata is disabled in bios my HD obvisouly does not show so can't install Vista.
3)If
I enable Sata in bios and unplug GFX card Vista will let me choose which HD to install to, my sata HD is in list and i select it and click next it will then start to copy window files and then lock up my pc whilst copying files of expanding files and i have to reset pc. I have not got any further forward than this and i can not install vista and i think it must be my motherboard that is not compatible with Vista.
